Yealands Family Wines have launched a new consumer-facing campaign: “Every Bit Extraordinary”. The campaign looks at every element that goes into making the most sustainably-produced and highly acclaimed wines in the world. It comes from a recognition that creating something extraordinary requires a multitude of extraordinary ideas, such as being CarboNZerocertTM since inception, using solar panels to help power your winery, breeding Babydoll sheep that are too small to reach your grapes and creating vine burners to generate energy. But it’s not just the sustainable initiatives that make Yealands’ wines Every Bit Extraordinary.
Peter Yealands, Founder and Principal for Yealands Wine Group, took on a challenge when he almost single-handedly transformed the land into what is now known as Seaview Vineyard. “I think people thought I was mad. The land was nothing but sheep farms when I found it. Everyone thought the hilly terrain and the proximity to the coast made it totally unsuitable for growing grapes, but I could see the potential. Being the most coastal vineyard in the area our vines really battle against the elements but in doing so create some of the most unique fruit there is for making wine. We love the land and care for the land in every way that we can. Our new campaign not only looks at our unique carbon neutral winery and at all of the sustainable ideas adopted by our vineyard, but also at our truly unique location, our terroir, and of course the people who make it all happen. Together all of these elements make us every bit extraordinary,” said Yealands.
