Countdown is pleased to confirm work is starting on Countdown Vogeltown, located on Hori Street in New Plymouth, which will create up to 80 jobs in the city and engage dozens of building and construction companies.
Countdown’s General Manager for Property, Adrian Walker, says the company is excited to bring the currently vacant site to life with a vibrant retail space that will include a new supermarket and adjoining retail outlets.
“Construction on the supermarket will begin from today, and over the next couple of months people will see the frame of the store come together, with an expected opening of mid 2015.”
The new store has been designed with Countdown’s latest design features and includes wider aisles, a more expansive fresh produce department and energy efficient fittings and equipment.
It will also offer the popular Click & Collect service, where customers can order their groceries online and pick them up on arrival, as well as an expanded new layout for clothing and kitchenware merchandise, a full-service bakery baking fresh daily, service deli and seafood department.
The site is being developed by local company Brooklands Development Ltd.
