Griffins Snacks has announced a partnership between one of Aotearoa’s most popular chip varieties, Eta Ripples and leading beach and coastal safety, drowning prevention and rescue authority, Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ).
For every Eta Ripples Ready Salted, Chicken and Salt & Vinegar 150g packet sold, Griffins will donate five cents to SLSNZ. This will be used to help provide training, resources, and support for Surf Life Saving clubs in need across the country, enabling them to continue to reduce drownings and help keep beachgoers safe.
Commenting on the partnership, Group Brand Manager – Griffin’s Snacks, Carolyn Stewart said, “Eta Ripples are a tasty and affordable chip of choice for Kiwi’s when they visit the beach with friends and whānau and we’re incredibly proud to be supporting SLSNZ – the people who help make sure they’re safe while they’re there.”
The funding provided from Eta Ripples chip sales will be un-tagged, meaning SLSNZ can allocate the contribution to anything they believe will best benefit the safety of the community, ranging from resources and equipment for Surf Life Saving clubs and their members through more training and education programmes.
SLSNZ represents 74 Surf Life Saving clubs with more than 18,000 members including over 4,500 volunteer surf lifeguards who patrol over 90 locations each summer, providing emergency call-out rescue services throughout Aotearoa and saving hundreds of lives each year.
SLSNZ CEO, Steve Fisher, said, “Our organisation is not fully funded so we treasure partnerships like this. Without financial contributions from our amazing partners like Griffin’s, we can’t do our job.
Despite our surf lifeguards saving hundreds of lives every year, New Zealand’s beach and coastal fatal drowning rates are still increasing. More education, more surf lifeguards and more equipment is needed, so the support from Eta Ripples’ chip-lovers across the country is more important than ever and is hugely appreciated.”
Eta Ripples chips with the new Surf Life Saving collaboration pack design can be purchased at supermarkets and most good convenience stores across New Zealand from October onwards.
