As one of Morinaga & Co’s flagship products, Hi-Chew was first introduced to the New Zealand market in 2010 in collaboration with exclusive NZ distributor, Tokyo Food Co. Ltd.
Originally, there were only four individual stick flavours available, but after a revamp in the packaging design, the fruity-chewy candy brand has since gone from strength to strength.
Now there are 17 SKUs in the range – with the below five new SKUs launched in 2022 alone!
● Cola Stick pays homage to the original soda, giving consumers a punch of
refreshingly fizzy flavour.
● Sweet & Sour Pineapple Stick is made with real fruit juices and purees, delivering the same vibrant colour and fresh flavour found in pineapples, but with the sensationally chewy texture that Hi-Chew fans have come to love.
● In late September, Hi-Chew launched its Monster Mix 250g Halloween Share Pack, with fan-favourite flavours hidden behind spooky masks for extra delight and excitement.
● Superfruit Mix features a delicious range of tangy, tropical flavours: Dragon Fruit, Acai and Passionfruit. Each sweet treat packs a punch of real fruit flavour with every bite.
● PlusFruit Mix offers a unique blend of two exciting flavours: Orange & Tangerine and Red Apple & Strawberry, with the added fun of REAL fruit pieces inside – a first in Hi-Chew’s innovative candy-making history.
