The I Love Pies brand, which is well established in the North Island, has now launched in the South Island. The handmade pies are baked in Christchurch and are now being stocked in selected South Island Pak’nSave, New World, Countdown, and Raeward Fresh (Christchurch) stores. Many local suppliers are being used to help make the pies, using South Island grown Angus beef and locally grown fresh vegetables. Packaging for the products is printed in Christchurch.
Co-founder and Director, Jessie Stanley, says that producing their pies in the South Island has had a positive impact on getting them ranged in Foodstuffs supermarkets too. “After launching at a farmers market near Auckland in 2008, we are now proud to say we are truly available nationwide. We’ve had amazing feedback from South Islanders who have been eagerly anticipating getting their hands on our lovely products, which use quality meat, vegetables and herbs and our own special sour cream pastry. We are also thrilled to continue to ensure our pies get to people with as many of the ingredients sourced as locally as possible – this is why we are making pies for the South Island market in the South Island.”
The pies now available in the South Island include Free Range Chicken, Leek & Mustard; Angus Beef Steak & Rosemary; and Angus Beef Mince & Mozzarella for their small pies. Also available are Angus Beef Mince with Aged Cheddar and Angus Beef Steak with Aged Cheddar in medium pie size.
I Love Pies recently celebrated being a finalist in the Mumtrepreneur Awards and they are working on a number of exciting new product and distribution opportunities across New Zealand, as well as looking at export opportunities.
