New Zealand’s original avocado oil producer has introduced three new oils to their range: Olivado Extra Virgin Sesame, Extra Virgin Almond and Extra Virgin Peanut Oils. Each has been produced from cold pressing raw seeds or nuts, retaining the healthy properties of sesame, peanuts and almonds. Used for Asian and Middle Eastern cooking, the new oils imbue delicious flavour and aroma to fresh summer vegetables.
These extra virgins join their four older sisters; Olivado Extra Virgin Avocado, Olive, Macadamia Nut and Coconut.
Used in dressings, each oil provides delicate flavour yet powerful health benefits. Antioxidant-rich Extra Virgin Sesame is believed to improve the body’s ability to regulate blood sugar and fats.
All Olivado avocado, macadamia and coconut oils can be used for high heat cooking; perfect for barbequing steaks, chicken or fish.
In a study of people with high blood pressure on medication, 35ml of extra virgin sesame oil was used as the only edible oil for 45 days, and saw the participant’s blood pressure reduced to normal; 45 days without sesame oil and their blood pressure returned to previous levels.
A significant reduction in body weight was also noted; which returned to previous levels after 45 days without the sesame oil. In addition, sodium levels decreased and potassium levels increased significantly with the sesame oil regime.
Olivado’s healthy and delicious range of extra virgins are now available in 250ml bottles from Countdown, New World and all good food stores (EV Sweet Almond Oil RRP $8.70; EV Sesame Oil RRP $8.70; EV Peanut Oil RRP $6.50).
