The most popular collectable craze is back: New World’s Little Shop. Last year’s hugely popular collectable craze, which swept the country and inspired kids, parents and grandparents to trade and swap their way to a full set, returns to New World on Monday 18 August and this time it is bigger and better than before.
This year, the mini collectables set has increased to 50 and will include limited edition bonus mini collectables, to be revealed later, as well as new accessories. There are also chances to win Little Shop electric ride-on trucks, one per-store, as well as two fully operational Sealord little boats and so much more.
Customers will receive a sealed package containing a mini grocery collectable with every $40 spent at New World. The collection sees the return of New Zealand’s most popular brands such as a mini Weet-Bix box, a mini Wattle’s Baked Beans tin, a box of Twining’s English Breakfast tea, a box of Tip Top’s Jelly Tip’s and many more household brands.
Steve Bayliss, General Manager of Marketing for Foodstuffs New Zealand says New World is delighted to bring back Little Shop.
“We knew Little Shop was going to be a hit last year but we didn’t anticipate the degree of popularity” he says. “All the accessories sold out across the country in record time and desperate parents started calling the stores trying to swap collectables which inspired many stores to set up trading days in store for customers.
“This year we have introduced a New World Little Shop Swap Facebook App that allows you to track your collection and ensures customers can swap and trade their mini collectables without having to pay the trading prices that started to appear on many websites last year,” says Bayliss.
The Little Shop accessories also return, with a new Little Shop delivery truck, apron and shopping bag set, a check-out counter, Little Shop Sistema Boxes, as well as last year’s favourites, new look shopping trolleys, cash registers, and shopping baskets.
