Countdown has been granted resource consent to build a brand new 2,500 sqm supermarket in Balclutha.
“We’re expecting the store to be completed in mid 2021 and the store is likely to create around 80 new jobs for the local community,” said a Countdown spokesperson.
The new store will sit opposite the town’s War Memorial Hall at the corner of Clyde and Charles Street, at the northern entrance to the town centre.
Countdown is part of the Woolworths NZ group of supermarkets (formerly Progressive Enterprises).
