When it comes to summer traditions, we Kiwis have about as many as we do sheep. There are jandals, stubbies, beach days, backyard cricket, heading down to the bach, fish n’ chips on the beach, and of course – the humble Kiwi BBQ.
Much-loved mayonnaise makers, Best Foods, know that the BBQ is an essential element to every Kiwi summer – which is why the brand is declaring Sunday 4th March 2018 as the first official Best Foods National BBQ Day. That’s right – Best Foods are finally giving the firey outdoor cooker the occasion it deserves and are encouraging the public to join them to celebrate and farewell summer in true Kiwi fashion.
NZ actor, comedian and radio presenter Tammy Davis, has come on board as the Best Foods National BBQ Day’s official ambassador to spread the word. Tammy is keen to see even more Kiwis get around the BBQ and make the most of summer.
Best Foods have also partnered with celebrity chefs and former My Kitchen Rules contestants, Jay Wanakore and Sarah Chase, to create a few special recipes to make BBQ Day the hottest day of the year. The dynamic duo will be sharing some of their favourite Best Foods mayo-based recipes to be served at a Kiwi summer BBQ. Keep an eye out on the Best Foods website for their recipes.
So, what do New Zealanders need to do to celebrate Best Foods National BBQ Day? It’s simple. Best Foods believe BBQ Day is best enjoyed with a group of great mates, some delicious food, a few cold bevvies, the ultimate homegrown music playlist and of course, a side of New Zealand’s favourite mayo – Best Foods mayonnaise. All Kiwis need to do is get their mates together, chuck on their favourite pair of jandals, head outside to enjoy Kiwi summer in all its glory and fire up the barbie on Sunday 4th March 2018.
Don’t have a BBQ of your own? Best Foods will also be bringing the BBQ to the people! Aucklanders can come down to Mission Bay from 2:30pm – 6:00pm on Best Foods National BBQ Day, Sunday 4th March, and celebrate the day in true Kiwi fashion – with some beach cricket, summer sun and a free sausage sizzle.
Want to hear the best news of all? Best Foods National BBQ Day plans to stick around. This is just the first in a long line of future BBQ Days. The first Sunday in March will be Best Foods BBQ Day from now on – the very best way to say ‘see ya soon’ to our Kiwi summer.
