ANZ will be the first New Zealand bank to enable merchants to process Eftpos payments using both iPhone and Android smartphones.
ANZ FastPay currently enables small businesses to take Visa and MasterCard credit and debit card payments using smartphones. From mid-year, this will be extended to Efrpos transactions. A new cardreader will also be introduced, meaning the merchant can process transactions faster.
Fred Ohlsson, ANZ MD retail and business banking, said ANZ FastPay is popular with a wide range of businesses. “Business owners have told us it’s a game changer in making payments quicker and easier so they can spend their time making money, not chasing payment. The improvements are the result of feedback from customers on how we can make it better,” said Ohlsson.
