Countdown Waitangi is back serving the local communities of Waitangi, Paihia, Russell, and rural areas nearby, after its official re-opening. The store re-opening follows the signing of a long-term lease with the freehold land owner, Te Tii (Waitangi) B3 Trust (TTB3 Trust) earlier this year.
Store Manager Mark Kippenberger said: “We’re really excited to be back serving the community with a full-service supermarket. We’re committed to providing fresh food, great service and value for money for our customers.”
“Our business has a great relationship with the Trust and many of our team either have close connections to the local community or are part of the local iwi, so this is a positive result for all parties,” Kippenberger said.
Countdown Managing Director, Steve Donohue, said: “Re-opening the doors here today wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of the Trust. I’d like to thank everyone involved at the Trust, particularly the Board, staff, and its Chairman who have done a tremendous job bringing the parties together, negotiating the new lease and assisting us while we got the store back up and running.”
