Countdown’s much anticipated new Beachlands store has been officially opened by Andrew Bayly, MP for Hunua and has created 70 new jobs for many in the local community.
Bayly said: “Beachlands is a vibrant growing community, and the new supermarket will be a welcome addition to the surrounding area. The store opening also means more jobs and a new shopping experience for customers in the area, which is great to see.”
Countdown Beachlands offers wider aisles, an expansive fresh produce department, a full production bakery, a dedicated health food section, and great service from the friendly new team.
Countdown Beachlands Store Manager Kevin Morgan says he and his team are very excited to open their doors and share the store with the community. “Countdown Beachlands offers new employment opportunities for many in the community, and we’re excited and proud to welcome them to our team,” says Morgan.
Beachlands is part of Countdown’s continued commitment to investing in communities around New Zealand. Last year Countdown invested more than $200 million into building new stores and upgrading their existing store network.
Countdown presented a trolley worth $500 trolley of groceries to the local Salvation Army foodbank. Beachlands is also part of Countdown’s Food Rescue programme, which helps donate more than $3.5 million worth of food to food banks around New Zealand each year.
