Countdown adds nutritional info for online shoppers

rsz_4-countdown_online_shopping_nutritional_information-3Countdown continues to make healthy eating more accessible with the launch of nutritional information on almost 10,000 products on their online shopping website. The new nutritional information is aimed at helping Kiwis’ make informed nutritional decisions when shopping online, and Countdown intend to continue to introduce it to more products over the coming months.

The nutritional information includes an ingredients list, nutritional details, allergy warnings, health claims, and health star rating details if applicable. It is a helpful tool for health conscious Kiwis who want to use the nutritional information to help make their shopping choices.

In October 2016 Countdown launched its Health and Nutrition Targets to help customers make healthier choices. Some examples of the commitments they made included a pledge to reformulate their own private label products where they can to improve nutritional value by 2018, to continue to provide free fruit for kids in all Countdown stores (delivering around 50,000 pieces of fruit each week), and to start introducing the nutritional information on their online shopping website.

“We made a commitment to develop and launch nutritional product information on our online shopping website by the end of the year, and we’re excited to have started launching these tools for our online customers to start using,” says Sally Copland, Head of Online.

For customers who like to shop with the weekly specials mailers, they can now also shop directly from the mailer on the website. Shoppers can flick through the weekly specials on the website, and add any of the weekly specials to their basket with a click of their mouse.

Copland said that the launch of both these new tools, the nutritional information and the weekly mailer online, is part of their ongoing commitment to improve shoppers online experience, and they hope to continue to develop tools like this for their customers.

“Online shopping is a growing part of our business, and we are always looking for innovative ways to improve the online website. The nutritional information is a great tool for shoppers with specific dietary or allergy requirements.

“We’ve made a great start on the project, and are working to make the nutritional information available on as many products online as we can. The tool is really straightforward to use, which will make it easy for Kiwis’ to make more informed decisions when doing their shopping online,” Copland says.
