New Zealand Post and CourierPost customers can now choose to have their packages redirected to one of 11 Countdown Auckland supermarkets. After these initial Auckland stores, it is expected that the New Zealand Post parcel pick-up will be available in most of Countdown’s 181 stores during 2016.
Countdown Acting Managing Director, Pat McEntee, says this is an innovative partnership between Countdown and New Zealand Post, which will bring added convenience to customers. So many households are out at work all day and miss deliveries so this makes it easy for people to pick up their parcel while grabbing what they need from the supermarket at the same time.
“Many of our Auckland stores are open until at least 10pm at night seven days a week, which gives busy Kiwis much greater opportunity to collect their parcels, especially going into Christmas.
“Countdown has had an online shopping business for nearly 20 years and has recently introduced Click and Collect, which is already available in nearly 100 stores. Enabling customers to also collect their New Zealand Post and CourierPost parcels is a progression of these services, as we are always looking to make life that little bit easier,” says McEntee.
Parcels awaiting collection will be held securely at the Countdown service desk at the front of the store. Customers will be sent an email by New Zealand Post as soon as the parcel arrives in store, advising them to collect it.
There is no additional service charge for this pick-up option. Customers will be required to show the notification email (via the phone or printed) and present photo ID to complete the parcel collection.
The first 11 Countdown stores to offer this service are: Countdown St Lukes, Countdown Mt Eden, Countdown Greenlane, Countdown Grey Lynn, Countdown Grey Lynn Central, Countdown Newmarket, Countdown Three Kings, Countdown Auckland Metro, Countdown Auckland City, Countdown Takapuna, and Countdown Glenfield Downing St.
