US brewery launches a 99-pack

It turns out that everything is bigger in Texas, including the packs of beer. Austin Beerworks became (probably) the first brewery in the world to sell a 99-pack of their beer. Forget about four-packs, six-packs, dozens or even a slab (for our Australian neighbours).

DB launches new grapefruit beer

DB has launched a new DB Export Citrus flavour. The brewery states the DB Export Citrus Grapefruit beer (2%) is “a taste revelation which includes DB Export quality beer and 100% natural grapefruit juice, for a refreshing taste with a hint of bitterness.” They add the beer has been made with no additives and preservatives.

Wine and design combine for WOW factor

To celebrate their continued support of World of WearableArt (WOW), Brancott Estate is releasing four limited edition bottles in the lead up to the 2014 World of WearableArt Awards Show season.

Veritas buys Nosh

Veritas Investments, which owns the Mad Butcher franchise business, has entered into a conditional agreement to buy gourmet retail chain Nosh Food Market for an undisclosed sum.

Sealord appoints new CEO

Sealord Group has appointed experienced food industry leader Steve Yung as the company’s next CEO. Canadian born Yung has most recently been Managing Director of McCain Foods Australia/New Zealand and took up his new role, based in Auckland in August.

NZ consumers are less upbeat

Consumers remain positive, though less upbeat. The ANZ-Roy Morgan New Zealand Consumer Confidence Index eased to 125.5 in August, down 7 points on the month prior and reversing lifts in sentiment over the preceding two months.
