Absolut Vodka, the leading international premium vodka, is proud to present its iconic bottle in its most renowned form to date, the Andy Warhol Edition.
This limited edition bottle, which follows the brand’s celebrated tradition of introducing cutting-edge designs and limited editions, transforms Andy Warhol’s original Absolut painting onto the shape of the bottle, allowing New Zealanders to take home their very own Warhol.
“With this limited edition, we raise our glasses to honour the partnership between Absolut and Andy Warhol – a collaboration that kick-started Absolut’s long-standing commitment to art and creativity,” says Kathryn Love, Marketing Manager for Absolut in New Zealand.
In 1986, Andy Warhol was the first artist to create an original artwork for Absolut saying, “I love the bottle, I want to do something…”. Since then, Absolut has collaborated with thousands of cutting edge artists and creatives, including Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Louise Bourgeois, Annie Liebovitz – and more recently Spike Jonze, Swedish House Mafia and Icona Pop.
“The Foundation is delighted to celebrate the launch of the Andy Warhol Edition, with a portion of the proceeds going towards The Foundation’s endowment supporting contemporary visual arts,” said Michael Hermann of The Andy Warhol Foundation. “While Warhol’s profound influence is uncontained we applaud Absolut for bottling his creativity.”
The Andy Warhol edition is black with blue, pink and yellow detail – replicating Andy Warhol’s original Absolut Warhol painting.
“The original Absolut Warhol painting hangs firmly in a museum but this bottle allows Andy Warhol’s artwork to be accessible for everyone,” says Kathryn Love.
Absolut has also launched an online campaign where consumers can contribute to recreate the original Andy Warhol painting for Absolut by selecting a section of it and uploading their own coloured picture or photo. Visit www.facebook.com/absolutnewzealand.
