A local school is set to benefit from the Weet-Bix™ Stat Attack™ campaign, helping fund this year’s continuation of the hugely successful Kiwi Can programme.
It was a disruptive past school year for many students across the country, with COVID 19 restrictions posing another challenge for students this year. A Weet-Bix Stat Attack auction aims to generate funds towards supporting the personal growth and development of students at a local school this year.
Koru School in Mangere will receive 100% of funds raised from the Weet-Bix Stat Attack Trademe auction. This will help bridge the current funding gap for the Kiwi Can programme at the school, ensuring its longevity. Koru School is decile 1, with more than 560 students aged from Year 1 to Year 8 and has offered the Kiwi Can programme for over 15 years.
Weet-Bix, a long-term partner of the Graeme Dingle Foundation, is holding a Trademe auction with their donated complete set of signed Weet-Bix Stat Attack cards and a signed 2021 All Black jersey. This priceless, unprecedented set will also feature the limited edition, gold Jonah Lomu card, offering fans a once in a lifetime package.
Sanitarium™ spokesperson Pete Davis was chuffed at the All Blacks support for the initiative. “Every member of the Stat Attack 2021 card set jumped on board lending their support by signing their card – including players across New Zealand and throughout Australia and France. When we put the call out, there was no hesitation. These guys really know how to come together for a good cause!”
The Weet-Bix Stat Attack card game was launched in 2019 and was a big hit with Kiwi families who loved seeing the latest All Black line up and getting to know their stats. It was such a huge success.
“With the past year being difficult for Kiwi kids, we wanted to do a little something to help out and partnering with the Graeme Dingle Foundation seemed like the perfect opportunity” said Davis.
The Kiwi Can programme is one of many offered by the Graeme Dingle Foundation, a New Zealand charity which focuses on positive youth development.
All Black legend Grant Fox, who also features on the Stat Attack set, says the Graeme Dingle Foundation inspires Kiwi kids with opportunities that would not otherwise be available to them.
“I am incredibly proud to be a part of the Graeme Dingle Foundation and its mission to give kids the opportunity to develop life skills and help them grow into well-adjusted individuals.”
“Laying the foundations for young New Zealanders to become solid contributors to society has got to be a good thing,” says Fox.
Koru School Principal Stan Whata says the Kiwi Can programme is an exciting, educational resource for children.
“A special part of Kiwi Can is also using leaders from within our community who can relate to the struggles and background of our children. They have empathy for our children and a desire to support their growth and successes as students at Koru School, as they will become our future leaders and citizens of our community,” says Whata.
