George Weston Foods produce buns, breads, crumpets and more under the Tip Top, Ploughman’s, Bürgen, Big Ben, Golden and Bazaar brands. They’re also producing some excellent, safe drivers thanks to great leadership and driver safety monitoring from Teletrac Navman.
The company installed Teletrac Navman’s system into six sales team vehicles, and following the successful trial, rolled the system out across the whole fleet – along with a bumper sticker with the message ‘Speed monitored for your safety and mine’.
With Teletrac Navman’s software, GWF drivers can review their personal driving habits using sophisticated second-by-second technology and gain a richer understanding of areas of improvement. “The results were incredibly insightful; some people were really surprised how complacent their attention to driving had become,” recalls Geoff Hutt, General Manager of Sales.
The driver score cards, which show speed, acceleration, cornering, and braking, became a popular tool for employees. The score cards ranked drivers against each other and increased competitiveness amongst them to get a safer score.
The results speak for themselves; GWF reduced its speeding incidents over three months by 48 per cent, from once every 174km to once every 337km.
