Countdown customers have voted to donate $100,000 to three of New Zealand’s most loved charities, with KidsCan receiving $37,635, The Salvation Army $34,845, and Forest & Bird $32,550.
Julie Chapman, KidsCan CEO says the money raised is a much-needed boost to help give Kiwi kids living in poverty a positive opportunity to learn.
“We’d like to thank all the Countdown customers who chose to support KidsCan. We’re facing unprecedented demand, so this help is crucial. It will make a huge difference to children living in hardship, fuelling them with food and providing raincoats, shoes and health items so they have the same chance to learn as anyone else,” says Julie Chapman.
Kiri Hannifin, Countdown’s General Manager Corporate Affairs, Safety and Sustainability, says the Countdown team is proud to have helped Kiwis pay it forward to some of the country’s most-loved charities.
“It’s been immensely rewarding to see Kiwis respond to paying it forward, and it really shows there is a lot of heart throughout Aotearoa. We all care deeply for the causes that these three charities stand for, and we want to thank our customers for getting involved.”
