New Woolies concept store opens in Queensland

Woolworths has opened its most advanced store in Australia, at the Racecourse village in Ascot, Queensland. Shoppers will see a raft of innovations in this store (which has been dubbed “Woolworths 3.0” by staff), including a drive-through service area with dedicated parks to collect online shopping, an expanded range of ready-meals and made-to-order cakes.

The premium offering is designed for a premium catchment area and includes an onsite butcher, a machine making fresh flat bread, a cheese cave with a large international selection and flame roasted rotisserie chickens.

“This is a next generation store, it’s the result of us listening to our customers and working with their insights and understanding how their shopping expectations have changed whether it be the product or whether it be how they actually shop with us between pick up, online or coming into the store,” said a spokesperson.

By using an app to alert the store you are on your way, shoppers will be able to park in a dedicated area for online pick up and won’t need to get out of the car. Recent figures show the demand from customers to shop online has grown 28%.
